Another summer over, a mad rush around Wilkinsons and meeting loads of new people….yes Freshers Week is soon approaching! And this means Freshers Fair too. We will be manning our RAG stall on 7th and 8th October in the Great Hall to answer any questions you may have…or if you just fancy a chat! Freshers Fair is your chance to see all the different societies you can get involved with at Lancaster University, so what better way than to raise money for well deserved charities and have a wicked time along the way???
Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Stepping Stones Nigeria is deeply committed to defending and upholding the basic rights of every child and empowering them to achieve their absolute potential. Working in partnership with local community organisations, they deliver education, refuge, heathcare and hope for a brighter future to vulnerable and disadvantaged children such as street children and orphans. Through advocacy and research we passionately campaign at a local, national and international level to put a stop to the abuse of innocent children.
As a cutting-edge child rights charity, their work focuses on some of the most challenging issues that children face today such as:
Lack of access to good quality education and resources, stigmatisation, abandonment and killings of so-called child ‘witches’, Child trafficking
Mencap is the voice of learning disability. Everything they do is about valuing and supporting people with a learning disability and their families and carers nationwide.
St. John’s Hospice care for terminally ill patients and their families and carers across north Lancashire, south Cumbria and parts of north Yorkshire.
Some very worthy causes, so let’s make this the best RAG week yet.

RAG week is finally over and so is the very long hang-over it induced (‘But we have to use ALL our RAG band deals…’).
It was a great week with every event making money for our worthy causes adding up to a grand total of over £3000 raised. So THANK YOU for taking part and helping out –we couldn’t have done it without you!
RAG also volunteered at this year’s Round Table Beer Fest in Week 8 where all the money made goes to local causes such as schools, youth groups, and charities. We received £500 to give to a charity of our choice and voted for Make A Wish Foundation which grants children with life threatening illnesses a chance to live their dreams.
